Back-A-Yard label, settled in Madrid (Spain), proudly releases a new single, after We are a Crowd (November 2013). This new work called No Time claims about adversity and insecurity, in a righteous and sober mood.
Puppashan´s production recreates a narrow space built by self consciousness. Bright sintes arise from its clear atmosphere, which becomes the perfect mean to connect with the lyrics and vocals from the debutant Prento.
Nevertheless, it´s difficult to elude the collective perspective that No Time brings. Line by line, the message contained in the lyrics flows inside out.
Bass Culture Players display their accuracy and capacity in generating several and different textures. Puppashan mixes the dub version too, in a completely instrumental track which manages to dig deeply in the message without using the vocals. As a result, this is a brilliant revival of the digital sound from the 80´s.
In short, Back-A-Yard and Disco Inferno appear for the first time this year taking a right step. Sometimes a negation brings us the right way.

The sweetness and softness of his voice is backed by a calm but firm riddim, slightly stretched by Bass Culture Players.
Djemetta´s voice arises softly, but vanishes disturbly with a pretended innocent tone which wraps a conscious complaint about radio-formulas and MTV´s, the petty evidence of a bigger fraud.
Don’t tell me that you have never suspected
If the sponsor of the song is the responsible of debt
As sober and concluding as Djemetta´s vocals, Puppashan´s dub version keeps the beat on a persistent bass line strenghtened by agil and powerful percussions. Djemetta´s phrases reappear and vanish again in a suspicious atmosphere, evidence of this unbearable falseness.

"They say that they are new, they christen themselves by acronyms: G8, IMF, WB, WTO, NAFTA, FTAA… They cannot fool us, they are the same as those who have come before them: (...) the old world that stopped our assaults and destroyed all stairways to heaven.
Nowadays they have a new empire, they impose new servitudes on the whole globe, they still play the lords and masters of the land and the sea. Once again, we the multitudes rise up against them."
Yes, we are a crowd. Javier Ochoa has his mind clear and his rethorical questions quickly finds the answer in this track, full of consciousness, pride and (re)assertion
Yes, we are a crowd. We are no longer doubtful. That is what we are: little, young and old, fighting for our rights, armed with our words and bodies.
And our music: derlivered once again by Bass CUlture Players, this time under the Back-A-Yard label. This deep and solid riddm seems tailor-made for the message and vocals of Javier Ochoa. Puppashan complets the work with a penetrating dub splattered with sparks.
And judging by its latest releases, anyone could think that Discoinferno holds on to our time's pulse. Our time, where doubts, fears and questions transform into affirmation:
Yes, we are a crowd.

This project, settled in Madrid, launches Dojo, a new label for recovering and spreading roots, organic and digital Jamaican music.
This release has focused on digital roots from the 90´s and 2000´s, building a powerful riddim on a smashing bass line, featuring different artists.
Vocal versions are performed by two Spanish artists: Yeyo Pérez (Madrid) burns the track with his blasting voice singing “Nos la quieren colar”; Pequeño Zergiote (Ponferrada) sings is inflammable lyrics in “Ríe ahora, llora luego”.
These conscious vocal versions in the B side share a same social demanding line. Another instrumental version named “Ocuppy the Streets” is guided by Cultural Horns, leaded by David Fullwood (Ital Horns, Zion Train…), Jonás Reguilón and Marcos Crespo (Emeterians), playing an encouraging melody. As an ending, “Dub The Streets” heavy weight version.
This work has been produced and mixed live by Puppa Shan at Discoinferno Studio, and mastered at Rollover Studios (London) by Oscar Pablos “Ojah”.
According to Bass Culture Player´s ideological background, the album has been released under Creative Commons 3.0. license.

Puppashan is a Jamaican rhythms lover and precursor in Spanish reggae music. He has worked in different projects related to this music, such as Brentford Road fanzine, Bass Culture Reggae Radio Show or the soulful reggae band Hotdrop. He has developed his career as an autodidact producer and shows his work in this new project: Bass Culture Players.
This showcase is a compilation of five singles (and its five dub mixes) recorded between 2008 and 2011. Puppashan has worked with some of the best Spanish reggae musicians, from bands like Tasty Grooves, Hotdrop, Amalgamah, Rockers roots… “Dub Box” has two special collaborations: producer Dani Ites plays melodica in “Rally Round”, and Ranking Forrest, the genuine deejay from California, works in the vocals of “Gwaan Good”.
Discoinferno is the studio where this production takes place, using analogical techniques and equipment, which have generated a whole range of sounds and shades, evocating different ages and places. The mastering has been carried out in Rollover Studios (London) by producer Oscar Pablos a.k.a. Ojah, who boosts the vintage textures that wrap up “Dub Box”.
This 10-track compilation rescues the essence of Jamaican productions, and brings it to this modern age where physical releases have lost much of its importance. “Dub Box” musical and graphic work has been developed from the respect and admiration to Jamaican music.
Faithful to DIY conscience, this production is under Creative Commons license, available for free download here: http:// basscultureplayers.bandcamp.com
Bass Culture Players will be back soon with more of its personal productions, inspired in jamaican music.

This first solo work definitely marks the name of this versatile artist, delivering four blazing new and entirely original songs.
Impeccably produced by Puppashan and performed by Bass Culture Digital Posse, it could fit perfectly within the narrow scene of 80's and 90's digital roots reggae. By diving tersely into the dense atmosphere of this forgotten decade, the riddims capture the essence without sounding like copies or versions.
Strictly available for digital download, the showcase format is noteworthy, with four vocal versions and their four matching dub versions, that express both the true Jamaican tradition, and the hottest new trends.
U-Rie's sensational talent already tells us that we are looking at a star to come.
