- Alors Maïté, qu’est-ce qu’ils nous ont prévu à la Dub Action pour leurs 30 ans ?

- Et bien Micheline, en attendant de pouvoir fêter ça en grande pompe ils nous ont concocté une Symphonie de galettes en 3 chapitres. Je te préviens ça va être lourd à digérer, c’est de la pure crème !

Et oui, il fallait une grosse sélection pour rendre un hommage digne de ce nom à la Dub Action, qui fête ce mois-ci ses 30 ans d’antenne sur la plus rebelle des radios, Radio Canut à Lyon sur le 102.2FM.

Un énorme big up aux fondateurs, Louison et Richie, ainsi qu’à Milouz et Bassta qui animent l’émission depuis tout ce temps. Pour ma part, ça fait 5 ans que je suis dans l’aventure une semaine sur 2 avec Bassta, un honneur de faire partie de cette « émission culte de reggae » comme le disait Telerama dans son article sur la radio.

Chapitre 1 - Richie Special - Ska / Boss segment

Cocktail de bienvenue avec une paire de King Edwards : le Shank I Shek et le Kingston 11, suivi par un ska de Lee Perry à la liqueur de chêne.

Farandole de blanks avec un des seuls morceaux sortis de la légende Count Matchukie suivi d’une production Linford Anderson des Race Fans et d’un Skatalites farci avec un des meilleurs solos de Jackie Mittoo, trust me !
On continue dans les blanks 45 avec les Pioneers, Val Bennet et un wicked Prince Buster, le tout enfumé avec un Winston Blake « obscure box VSOP» sur le Young Gifted & Black.

Arrive ensuite le premier plat de résistance avec LE roots foundation trois étoiles par excellence, j’ai nommé le Suprème de Burning Spear, dans son jus, accompagné d’un blueprint du Dreadlocks The Time Is Now de la maison Studio One.

Gâteau d’anniversaire des 30 ans par le chef Linval Cooper, double rasade de John Holt en dub (garanti non bouchonné), le tout accompagné d’un sablé instrumental au Skylarking AOP.

Chapitre 2 - Segment Milouz – Roots to Rub A Dub

Trou jamaïcain avec un petit message de Horace Andy pour les 30 ans de la Dub Action, servi avec sa boule de glace au ackee.

Comme y’a Dub dans Dub Action, on s’enfile un dubwise signé Errol Thompson et un autre de Jammy’s. Servis avec deux lampées de Linval Thompson 1978 pour faire glisser.

Le plat suivant est plutôt copieux, un Hot Milk vraiment mental avec des aigus les plus brutaux jamais posés sur disque, et sa mousse de DATC façon Hopeton Lindo. Une crème de Carlton café vient révéler des saveurs de Marley réchauffé, une vraie World Festivity ce repas des 30 ans j’vous dis !

S’en suit un clair obscur reality entre un délicat velouté de Burning Spear et le massif No Dreams du père Milton.

Un Little John à la mousse de Billy Boyo jeune vient refermer cette explosion de saveurs.

Segment Bassta – Rub A Dub to UK

Mise en jambe en compagnie de Dennis Brown pour un Running salvateur vu ce qu’il reste à s’enfiler avant la fin du festin. On se récompense avec la brain food de Field Marshall Haye avant de repasser à table pour le délice de west Kingston avec un Michael Palmer façon Sly & Robbie.

Second trou yardie pour tous les massifs de la Dub Action avec rien de moins que Ken Boothe qui vient big up tous les animateurs.

Plateau de 90’s affinés par le maître Papa Flo, meilleur ouvrier de France : Terry Ganzie AOC et Derrick Pitter des Blue Mountains, Tony Rebel au lyrics cru.
Accord de millésimes 1991, domaine Capleton, château Wailing Souls grand cru et enfin le fameux Bandelero, décliné en millésimes 1991 et 2003 cuvée de la jungle.

Chariot de desserts UK style, composé d’un space cake de Kenny Knots nappé au Sleng Teng, d’un High Tone à la Chantidy et de deux macarons de chez Russ D.

Enfin on sabre un magnum dubplate de Robert Dallas brut et on trinque aux 30 ans de la Dub Action, BIG BIG UP à tous ceux qui sont passés derrière les platines et devant les micros.

We keep on playing a couple of Derrick Harriott productions, Stranger Cole, Keith Hudson, Danny Clarke, one of the last Bob Marley sides that has never been reissued, both takes to A Little Bit from Freddie McKay and a mini special with To Be A Lover next mixes.

Last segment escalates quickly with Black Uhuru in full 12” glory, Bitty McLean & Josey Wales, Madu Messenger & Jah Marnya, Ist3p and King Pharaoh.
