At the heart of every Time To Roots Records production is George Palmer, who once again handles the production and mixing duties for the release. This time, Palmer also steps into the spotlight as lead vocalist on The Light, the first single taken from his forthcoming album with the label.

Drawing inspiration from the golden era of 1970s roots reggae, George Palmer delivers a vibrant and deeply respectful reinterpretation of The Light, originally recorded in 1979 by More Relation. While preserving the spirit and message of the original, Palmer introduces fresh lyrical elements and a distinctive personal touch, giving the song renewed life and identity.

The riddim has been entirely rebuilt and reimagined by Dub Wizards Band, performed exclusively with live instrumentation. The production maintains the song’s semi-acoustic, ethereal, and soulful atmosphere, blending dreamy guitars, keyboards, and percussion with a deep, heavyweight bass-and-drum foundation.

Complementing the vocal cut is a powerful dub version infused with vocal fragments and mixed in authentic old-school style by George Palmer at George’s Box Studio using analog equipment.

The Light is a must-have release for roots reggae enthusiasts, vinyl collectors, and sound system selectors alike.
